James Hague was born 1970 Nottingham. Lives and works in London and Copenhagen. Studied at University of Northumbria at Newcastle 1989-1993, Royal College of Art 2004-2006.

Member of The Royal Society of Portrait Painters & Contemporary British Portrait Painters. Winner BP Portrait award 1996, Winner The Ondaatje Prize for Portraiture 2018, Winner The RP Award 2019.
